Home elevators in South Carolina

Keep every floor of your South Carolina home within easy reach.

An elevator that stands on your floor and fits the home you already have.

Picture an ordinary evening. You finish in the kitchen, turn off the lights and head for the bedroom upstairs. For many people that last climb is the hardest part of the day. A home elevator turns it into a short, calm ride, so the whole house stays yours.

A PVE elevator is air-driven. PVE designs and manufactures it with patented pneumatic technology. In plain words, a change in air pressure lifts the cabin, and gravity helps it glide back down.

It is also self-supporting, which means it rests on your existing floor. In standard installations you need no pit, no hoistway and no separate machine room. That keeps the work in your home small and the mess low.

So whether you own a two-story family home in South Carolina, a house raised above the ground, or a new build still on paper, the elevator can usually join the home without a major rebuild. A dealer visit confirms the right spot.

How it works

The cleanest home elevator on the market.

The design is clean and simple: no oils or harmful lubricants, low maintenance, and a safe descent to the lowest floor if your power goes out. A solar panel package is also available.

  1. 01Air lifts you up

A vacuum pump at the top of the unit changes the air pressure and the cab rises.

  2. 02Gravity brings you down

Air is let back in and the cab descends. No oils, hydraulic fluid or lubricants.

  3. 03Runs on household current

Low power draw, so it works alongside the solar arrays many homes now have.

Why homeowners choose PVE

Safe, simple and made to be seen.

Here is why South Carolina families choose a PVE home elevator for the house they love, whether they are planning ahead or need help now.

A calm ride in a power cut

If the power goes out while someone is riding, the cabin descends to the lowest floor at a safe speed and the door unlocks. You never wait in the dark between floors, even when a storm knocks out the lights.

No pit to dig

The elevator stands on your existing floor. That spares raised homes, older houses and slab foundations from digging, and it leaves nothing below the cabin to fill with water.

Fast, tidy install

Once your site is ready, the crew typically finishes in 2 to 3 days. Your daily life carries on around the work, with far less dust and noise than a full renovation, and no rooms lost to a shaft.

A view all the way around

The panoramic 360 degree design lets you see your home as you ride. The aluminum frame and clear polycarbonate panels feel open and light, never boxed in, and the cabin lights up on its own each time you ride.

Room to age in place

A home elevator helps you keep the bedroom, the office and the family rooms you love, on every floor, for many years. Moving out does not have to be the answer, and family visits stay easy for everyone.

Assembled in the USA

Every PVE elevator is assembled in the USA and factory-tested in Miami, Florida. PVE has designed and manufactured air-driven elevators since 2002 and is certified by LiftInstitute.

Testimonials

What homeowners say.

Real words from families who added a PVE elevator to the home they love.

We are not age-limited with the elevator. At any age, it's like living on a single floor. We've been here 5 years and it's never needed anything. The elevator has been flawless.

PVE homeowner5 years with a PVE

My house was built in 1925 and it was hard to get something to fit in with the décor of my home, but the PVE fit in perfectly. I am thrilled with the design, engineering, and reliability of the elevator by PVE.

It turns a 2-story into a ranch concept! It's for the ease & access but also for the resale. I think the investment is worth it!

From idea to installation

What happens during installation?

Your installation plan should cover the work before the elevator arrives as well as assembly and testing.

  1. Review the home

Confirm the layout, the people using the elevator and the levels it needs to serve.

  2. Confirm the model and location

Check dimensions, landing access and the requirements for the selected configuration.

  3. Prepare the site

Complete the agreed structural and electrical work and arrange the required permits and inspections.

  4. Install and hand over

Assemble and test the elevator, complete required approvals, and explain operation and ongoing care.

Timing depends on site preparation, the selected model and local requirements.

FAQ

Questions South Carolina buyers ask before ordering

Have another question? Send us your question and a PVE authorized dealer will answer it for your home. 813-548-4339
Is our South Carolina house likely to be a good fit?

In many cases, yes. Most two- and three-story homes have a spot where the elevator can stand, because it rests on your floor and needs no pit or hoistway. What matters is a level floor, enough ceiling height and a suitable power supply. Every house is different, so a dealer visit confirms the fit. They measure, look at a few possible spots with you, and explain any prep your home needs before you decide.

Who deals with the town or county about approval?

Your PVE authorized dealer helps you with it. Most homes need a residential permit from the local building office, and an inspection may follow once the elevator is in. The steps and timing differ from one place to the next across South Carolina. Your dealer knows what is usually asked for where you live and helps you gather it, so the paperwork does not slow your project or fall on your shoulders.

Our main rooms sit a flight up from the ground. Can the elevator help?

Yes, it can link that lower level to the floors you live on. Many homes have a garage or entry level below the main rooms, and that first climb is often the hardest. Because there is no pit to dig, the elevator can start on your lower floor without work in the ground. The space must be indoors and kept comfortable, so your dealer will check the spot during the visit.

What if the power drops while my dad is halfway up?

He comes down gently to the lowest floor and the door unlocks so he can step out. This happens on its own, without any button to press and without a battery to charge. It is part of how the elevator is designed. So a summer storm or a power cut does not leave him waiting between floors. Once the power returns, the elevator works as normal again, and that is one less worry for your family.

Is there one that takes a wheelchair, and how do we know it will fit?

The PVE52 is the model to look at, as it is the only PVE elevator made for wheelchair access. It is not ADA compliant, and not every wheelchair fits, so it is wise to be sure first. The best way is to ride a PVE52 with the chair at a PVE authorized distributor. Your dealer can help arrange this and check your home for the larger model.

How long will our house be a work site?

The elevator itself typically goes in over 2 to 3 days. Before that, any prep is done, such as leveling the floor, making the openings and adding power. How long the prep takes depends on your home. Your dealer gives you a clear plan at the visit, so you know what happens and when. Many owners book the prep a few weeks ahead so the install days run smoothly. You can stay in your home the whole time.

Will it look out of place in our home?

Most owners find it becomes a feature of the room. The round, panoramic design lets light through and gives a full view as you ride. You can choose from several frame colors, and The Cube offers a square shape if that suits your rooms better. The cabin lights up on its own when you step in, so it feels bright and welcoming. Your dealer can show you photos and options so you can picture it in your own home.

Will someone close by look after it once it is in?

Yes, your PVE authorized dealer handles service after the install. The elevator is low maintenance and uses no harmful oils, but it still needs regular checks. Your dealer sets a service schedule with you, with an inspection at least every 6 months. Every dealer is trained at the PVE facility in Miami, so the person who services your elevator knows it well.

Your home, your project

Built for the way South Carolina lives.

Typical homes
Two- and three-story houses, raised homes and new builds
What it needs
A level floor, a suitable power supply and an indoor spot
Permits
Usually through your local building office, guided by your dealer
Install time
Typically 2 to 3 days once site prep is complete

Every house is different, so the first question is simple: where would the elevator go in yours? Most owners find a spot they had not thought of. It might be a corner of the living room, the end of a hallway, or the space beside the stairs. Because the elevator stands on your floor, it does not need a room built around it. Your dealer also looks at how you move through the house each day, so the elevator stops close to the rooms you use most.

If your home has two floors, the job is often the simplest kind. The crew makes a neat opening in the floor above, sets the elevator in place and connects it. If you have three floors or more, one PVE30, PVE37 or PVE52 can serve them all, with up to 5 stops. The Cube is made for two- and three-story homes.

If your living space sits above a garage or a raised ground level, the elevator can link that lower level to the rooms you use each day. There is no pit to dig, so you avoid breaking into the ground under the house. That also means there is no pit to collect water.

An older home brings its own questions. Floors may have settled over the years, and the elevator needs a floor that is fully level where it stands. Your dealer checks this at the visit and tells you plainly what your floor needs. If a little leveling is needed, it is done before the install, so the crew can work quickly once they arrive.

No pit. No hoistway. No machine room. Just a level floor and a few days of work.

If you are building, plan the elevator early. Tell your builder or designer where it will go, so the floor openings, the power supply and the ceiling height are ready from the start. Adding it to the plan now costs far less effort than changing walls later.

Permits come next. In most places, a residential elevator needs approval from your local building office, and an inspection may follow. The rules and timing vary by city and county. Your PVE authorized dealer knows the steps where you live and helps you prepare what is needed, so you are not left to sort it out alone.

The elevator needs a comfortable indoor space. It is not used below 65°F, so it belongs inside your heated and cooled home, not in an open porch or an unconditioned garage. It also needs a dedicated power supply, which your electrician can add before the crew arrives. If your top ceiling is on the low side, ask about the split unit, which moves the machinery to another spot so the elevator needs less height above it.

Once the site is ready, the install itself is quick. In most homes it takes 2 to 3 days. You keep living in your house while the work goes on, and you can pick dates that suit your family's routine. The best first step is a free visit, where your dealer looks at your home and talks through the options with your family.
