A PVE air-driven home elevator with its panoramic cabin, shown in a home interior.
Keep every floor of your Queensland home within easy reach.
A home elevator lets you keep living on every floor of your Queensland home, on your own terms.
Think about the trips you make most: up to bed, down to the kitchen, out to the yard. When the stairs start to hurt, those trips get planned instead of taken. A PVE home elevator turns each one back into a short, easy ride, so the whole house stays yours.
The elevator is self-supporting. In plain words, it stands on your existing floor and carries its own weight. Standard installations need no pit, no hoistway and no separate machine room. For a Queensland home you already love, that means less building work and far less disruption.
It also suits life here. Storms in Queensland can cut the power, and when they do, the cabin comes down to the lowest floor at a safe speed and the door unlocks. Whether you plan to age in place, care for a parent or build new, the lift can be part of your plan.
The cleanest home elevator on the market.
Queensland's storm season makes outages a real part of life. A PVE elevator uses no harmful oils or lubricants, lowers you safely if the power fails, and a solar panel package is available if you want it.
- 01Air lifts you up
A vacuum pump at the top of the unit changes the air pressure and the cab rises.
- 02Gravity brings you down
Air is let back in and the cab descends. No oils, hydraulic fluid or lubricants.
- 03Runs on household current
Low power draw, so it works alongside the solar arrays many homes now have.
The most sustainable home elevator available. Anywhere.
- Pneumatic technology
- No shaft, pit or machine room
- Installed in 2 to 3 days
- Panoramic design
- Three sizes and a square
Four models. One for every home.
If one person will ride and your space by the stairs is tight, the PVE30 is the compact choice. The PVE37 and The Cube give room for two, which suits a couple sharing the lift. If someone in your family uses a wheelchair, start with the PVE52, the only model built for wheelchair access, and try it with your own chair first.

Safe, simple and made to be seen.
Here is what a PVE elevator brings to a Queensland home, from storm season to the daily climb. Each point comes back to your house and the people in it.
No pit to dig or flood
The lift stands on your existing floor, so standard installs need no pit, shaft or machine room. In a state where flash flooding is a real worry, there is no hole under the lift to take on water.
Ready for storm outages
If a storm cuts the power while you ride, the cabin comes down to the lowest floor at safety speed and the door unlocks. You step out calmly, even in a long Queensland outage.
A cabin you can see through
The panoramic design gives 360 degree visibility from inside. The cabin feels open, not boxed in, and it sits in your living space like a feature rather than a cupboard you hide.
Room for the way you live
Pick a compact cabin for one, room for two, or the PVE52 for wheelchair access. If you care for a parent or partner, you can choose a cabin that lets you ride with them.
A quick, tidy install
Once approvals and site prep are done, the install typically takes 2 to 3 days. You keep your rooms, your layout and most of your routine while the work happens.
Backed by the manufacturer
PVE has designed and manufactured air-driven elevators since 2002. Each one is assembled in the USA and factory-tested in Miami, Florida, and serviced by a dealer trained at PVE's Miami facility. It is low maintenance, with service set by your dealer.

What homeowners say.
Real words from families who added a PVE elevator to the home they love.
We are not age-limited with the elevator. At any age, it's like living on a single floor. We've been here 5 years and it's never needed anything. The elevator has been flawless.
My house was built in 1925 and it was hard to get something to fit in with the décor of my home, but the PVE fit in perfectly. I am thrilled with the design, engineering, and reliability of the elevator by PVE.
It turns a 2-story into a ranch concept! It's for the ease & access but also for the resale. I think the investment is worth it!
What happens during installation?
Your installation plan should cover the work before the elevator arrives as well as assembly and testing.
- Review the home
Confirm the layout, the people using the elevator and the levels it needs to serve.
- Confirm the model and location
Check dimensions, landing access and the requirements for the selected configuration.
- Prepare the site
Complete the agreed structural and electrical work and arrange the required permits and inspections.
- Install and hand over
Assemble and test the elevator, complete required approvals, and explain operation and ongoing care.
Timing depends on site preparation, the selected model and local requirements.
Let's talk numbersHome elevator cost in Queensland.
In Queensland, the price of your lift depends on the model, how many floors it serves, and the site work your home needs, such as a floor opening or a balcony landing. Permits, engineering certificates and any strata approval add to the picture, so a free quote after a look at your home gives you the real figure.

Questions Queensland buyers ask before ordering
Can you add a lift to the house I already live in?
Yes, in many cases, and that is the job a PVE elevator is designed for. It stands on your existing floor, so standard installs need no pit, no shaft and no machine room. The main work is a neat opening in the floor above, or a landing if the lift rises beside a balcony. Every home is different, so a dealer visit confirms the best spot in your Queensland home before you commit.
What approvals will I need in Queensland?
You will typically need a building permit, engineering certificates and a final inspection. Queensland runs its own permit process for home lifts, and it is usually a little simpler than in New South Wales or Victoria. Your dealer knows the local steps and can help you get the paperwork ready. If you live in a townhouse or unit, check with your body corporate early, since strata rules can add one more approval.
Our power goes out for hours in storm season. Is the lift still safe?
Yes. If the power fails while you are riding, the cabin comes down to the lowest floor at a safe, steady speed and the door unlocks so you can step out. That matters here, where storms and cyclones have cut power across the south-east for a day or more. While the power stays off, the lift rests downstairs, so plan ahead for anyone who sleeps upstairs when a big storm is coming.
My wife uses a wheelchair. Which lift should we look at?
Start with the PVE52, the only PVE model built for wheelchair access. It has the widest door of the range and room for a rider in a chair. Not every wheelchair fits, and the lift is not ADA compliant, so the best step is to try it with her own chair at an authorized dealer. If no one in your home uses a wheelchair, a smaller model may suit your space better.
Will the install turn my house into a building site?
No. Once approvals are in and the site is ready, the install typically takes 2 to 3 days. There is no pit to dig and no shaft to frame, so you skip the long, dusty build many people expect. The prep work, mainly an opening in the floor above and a level floor below, is planned with you at the home visit, so you know what will happen and when.
Who do I call if the lift needs a service in Queensland?
You call your authorized PVE dealer. Every dealer is trained at the PVE facility in Miami, and your dealer sets your service schedule, with an inspection at least every 6 months. The elevator is low maintenance and uses no harmful oils or lubricants, so visits are usually short and simple. Ask about service when you request your quote, so you know who looks after your lift from day one.
I care for my dad at home. Is a lift worth it for us?
For many carers, yes. A large number of Queenslanders give unpaid care to a parent or partner, and the stairs are often the hardest part of the day for both of you. A lift lets your dad move between floors without your arm on every step. It lets you carry meals or laundry up in one trip, and he keeps his own room upstairs. A free consultation is a good place to talk it through.
Built for the way Queensland lives.
- Typical project
- Adding a lift to an existing two- or three-story home
- Approvals
- Building permit, engineering certificates, final inspection
- Storm season
- Cabin descends to the lowest floor if the power fails
- Install time
- Typically 2 to 3 days after site preparation
Queensland is getting older, and many families feel it first on the stairs. The number of Queenslanders in their early seventies grew clearly between the last two censuses, and the state's statistician counts anyone over 65 as an older Queenslander. If you are in that group, or close to it, a lift lets you plan now instead of moving later.
Caring at home is common here too. A large number of Queenslanders give unpaid help to someone with a disability, a health condition or old age. If you are one of them, you know how often the stairs come into your day. A lift takes away the guiding and lifting on every step, for you and for the person you care for.
Most households in the state are small, often a couple or a small family. That is why a cabin with room for two is a common choice here. You can ride together, or one of you can bring up the shopping while the other waits upstairs. If a wheelchair is part of your life, the larger PVE52 is the one to see.
If the power goes out, the cabin comes down to the lowest floor at safety speed and the door unlocks.
Storm outages are a fact of life in Queensland, and the state sees some of the country's highest storm-related power failures. Ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred left a huge number of homes and businesses in the south-east without power, the biggest loss in more than a decade. A spring storm in the south-east later toppled trees and cut power to many homes. Outages here can last a day or more.
For your lift, that means two things. First, no one is left stuck between floors, because the cabin lowers itself and opens. Second, while the power stays off, the lift rests downstairs. So if someone sleeps upstairs, plan for them to come down before a big storm, or to have what they need on that floor.
Alfred also brought warnings of very heavy rain and rapid flash flooding. Because a PVE elevator stands on your existing floor, there is no pit below it to fill with water. If your home is in an area that floods, talk with your dealer about where the lift should go and which floor it starts from.
Before any work starts, you will need approvals. Across Australia, home lifts follow national standards and the National Construction Code, and almost every install needs a building permit and certification. Queensland runs its own permit system for home lifts, and the lift must meet state lift rules. The process is typically a little simpler than in New South Wales or Victoria. In most cases you need a building permit first, engineering certificates, and a final inspection once the lift is in.
If you live in a townhouse or apartment, strata rules can add one more approval, so ask your body corporate early. Once approvals are in and the site is ready, the install itself typically takes 2 to 3 days. Site preparation comes first: a neat opening in the floor above and a floor below that is perfectly level. Your dealer walks you through it at the home visit.
