Home elevators in Ventura, CA

Keep every floor of your Ventura home within easy reach.

Stay in the Ventura home you love, with an easy ride between floors instead of a hard climb.

When the stairs stop feeling easy, your home can start to feel smaller. You may skip the upstairs office, carry less laundry, or plan your whole day around one trip down. A home elevator in your Ventura house gives you back every floor, so you can keep living the way you choose, in the place you already know.

PVE designs and manufactures the world's only air-driven residential elevators, using pneumatic technology it has refined since 2002. Put simply, a change in air pressure lifts the cabin, and gravity helps it come down. Each unit is self-supporting. It stands on a level floor you already have, with no pit to dig, no hoistway to frame and no separate machine room in standard installations.

That matters in a city where many homes have stood for decades and hold real value. You avoid heavy construction, you keep the rooms you have, and the panoramic design lets light pass through instead of closing off a corner. Every elevator is assembled in the USA, in Miami, and installed by an authorized dealer trained there.

How it works

The cleanest home elevator on the market.

A PVE elevator runs on a dedicated household circuit and uses no harmful oils or lubricants, so there is nothing messy to keep in your Ventura home. If the power fails during a ride, the cabin descends gently to the lowest floor and the door unlocks. A solar panel package is also available.

  1. 01Air lifts you up

A vacuum pump at the top of the unit changes the air pressure and the cab rises.

  2. 02Gravity brings you down

Air is let back in and the cab descends. No oils, hydraulic fluid or lubricants.

  3. 03Runs on household current

Low power draw, so it works alongside the solar arrays many homes now have.

The most sustainable home elevator available. Anywhere.

Models

Four models. One for every home.

If your Ventura home has a tight stair hall or a small spare corner, the compact PVE30 carries one rider. The PVE37 and The Cube give room for two, which suits a couple who ride together, and The Cube serves two- and three-story homes. If someone in your family uses a wheelchair, start with the PVE52 and ride one at a dealer to confirm the fit.

Why homeowners choose PVE

Safe, simple and made to be seen.

Here is what a PVE home elevator brings to a house in Ventura, from the first visit to the years you ride it. Each point comes back to your home and your family.

Gentle on an older house

Many homes around Ventura have stood for decades. A self-supporting elevator rests on your existing level floor, so there is no pit to dig, no shaft to frame and no machine room to carve out of a closet in standard installations.

A calm ride down if the power fails

If the power goes out during a ride, the cabin descends at a safe speed to the lowest floor and the door unlocks. You or your parent can step out without waiting for help.

Light and open by design

The round, panoramic design lets you see out as you ride. It keeps hallways and living rooms bright, so the elevator feels like part of your home instead of a box in the corner.

Assembled in the USA

Every PVE elevator is assembled and factory-tested in Miami, Florida. PVE designs and manufactures its own elevators, so you deal with the company behind the technology, not a reseller.

Local install and low maintenance

An authorized dealer trained at the PVE Miami facility installs your elevator and sets your service schedule. The system is low maintenance and uses no harmful oils, gases or lubricants.

A model for your household

Choose a compact cabin for one rider, room for two, or the PVE52, the model to start with for wheelchair access. Your dealer helps you match the model to your home and the people who will ride it.

Testimonials

What homeowners say.

Real words from families who added a PVE elevator to the home they love.

We are not age-limited with the elevator. At any age, it's like living on a single floor. We've been here 5 years and it's never needed anything. The elevator has been flawless.

PVE homeowner5 years with a PVE

My house was built in 1925 and it was hard to get something to fit in with the décor of my home, but the PVE fit in perfectly. I am thrilled with the design, engineering, and reliability of the elevator by PVE.

It turns a 2-story into a ranch concept! It's for the ease & access but also for the resale. I think the investment is worth it!

From idea to installation

What happens during installation?

Your installation plan should cover the work before the elevator arrives as well as assembly and testing.

  1. Review the home

Confirm the layout, the people using the elevator and the levels it needs to serve.

  2. Confirm the model and location

Check dimensions, landing access and the requirements for the selected configuration.

  3. Prepare the site

Complete the agreed structural and electrical work and arrange the required permits and inspections.

  4. Install and hand over

Assemble and test the elevator, complete required approvals, and explain operation and ongoing care.

Timing depends on site preparation, the selected model and local requirements.

FAQ

Questions Ventura homeowners ask before they order.

Have another question? Send us your question, and a PVE dealer will answer it for your home. 813-548-4339
Where would an elevator even go in our Ventura house?

In most homes, it goes in a spot you hardly use today, such as a corner of the living room, a stair landing or a large closet. Because the elevator stands on your existing level floor, you do not need to give up a room for a shaft. Many Ventura homes are several decades old, so a dealer visit checks the floor and the opening between levels first. Request a free consultation and we will look at your layout with you.

Who gives us the permit if we live in the City of Ventura?

The City of Ventura's Building and Safety Division does. It reviews your plans, issues the permit and handles the inspections, using the California building codes as the city has amended them. Your dealer helps you put together what the city asks for, so you are not doing the paperwork alone. Once the permit is in hand and the site is ready, the install can be scheduled. Ask for a quote and we can walk you through the steps for your address.

We live outside the city limits. Is the process different?

Yes, if your home is in unincorporated Ventura County, the county handles your permit instead of the city. You apply through the VC Citizen Access Portal, and a first plan review generally takes a few weeks. If the work changes your structure, a licensed architect or engineer seals the plans. Homes in a flood hazard area also get an extra review. Let your dealer know early where your home sits, so your timeline is planned around the right office.

Will an inspector need to come inside our home?

Yes, in the city the inspector needs access to the work, so someone should be home to let them in. Ventura asks permit holders to provide that access, and inspection requests must reach the city the business day before the visit. If weekdays are hard for your family, the city offers off-hours inspections with advance notice for an extra fee. Your dealer can help you plan the visits so they fit around your week.

Do we have to renew a state elevator permit every year?

No, California does not require a state operating permit for an elevator in a private single-family home that the public does not use. Cal/OSHA does not permit or inspect a typical home elevator like this, so there is nothing to renew with the state. You still need the local building permit before the work starts. After that, your dealer sets a regular service schedule to keep your elevator running well for years.

What happens if the power goes out while my mom is riding?

She is brought down in safety to the ground floor. Should the power go out in the course of a trip, the cabin will make its own descent at a controlled and easy pace and the door lock will release for her to exit. There is no need to put in a call or remain in the elevator. An alarm and telephone are on hand in the cabin as well. To get an idea of what it is like, have your dealer arrange a ride.

My wife uses a wheelchair. Can she ride one on her own?

The PVE52 is the model to look at, because it is the one PVE markets as wheelchair accessible. It is not ADA compliant, and not every wheelchair fits, so the best step is for her to try a PVE52 at an authorized dealer before you order. The other models are for riders who can stand. Request a free consultation, and we will help you plan a visit and a spot in your home.

How long will workers be in our home?

The install itself typically takes 2 to 3 days once your site is ready. Before that, your home may need some preparation, such as a new electrical circuit or a finished opening between floors, which can take longer in an older Ventura house. Because the elevator needs no pit or shaft, there is no long, dusty construction stage. Your dealer will give you a clear schedule after the first visit.

Your Ventura project

Built for the way Ventura lives.

Typical homes
Single-family houses, many several decades old
City permits
City of Ventura Building and Safety Division
State permit
Not needed for a private single-family home
Install time
Typically 2 to 3 days after site prep

Start with the house itself. Across Ventura County, a large share of homes were built several decades ago, and many still have the stairs, hallways and floor framing of their time. If your home is one of them, the good news is that a PVE elevator does not ask you to dig into the foundation or build a shaft. It needs a level floor and a clean opening between levels, and a dealer checks both on the first visit.

Homes here also carry high values, and about half of the homes in the city are owned by the people who live in them. If you own yours, you set the plan. Because the elevator is self-supporting and the work stays small, you protect the finishes and layout you have paid for. You also keep the choice to stay, rather than sell and move to a single-level home.

The people matter too. Older adults make up a larger share of Ventura County than of California as a whole, and many older residents in the city live alone. If that describes you or a parent, an elevator is about safety and independence on an ordinary day. You reach the bedroom, the laundry or a second-floor bath without waiting for someone to help.

No pit, no hoistway, no machine room: the elevator stands on the floor you already have.

Next comes the permit. If you live within the City of Ventura, the Building and Safety Division reviews the plans, issues the permit and carries out the inspections. It enforces the California building codes as the city has amended them. Your dealer helps you gather what the city asks for, so the paperwork moves along with the plan for your home.

Plan for the inspections as well. The city asks permit holders to give inspectors access to the work, so someone will need to be home to let them in. Requests must reach the city the business day before you need the visit. If a weekday is hard for you, the city offers off-hours inspections with advance notice, for an added fee.

If your home sits in unincorporated Ventura County, the process runs through the county instead. Permits start on the VC Citizen Access Portal, and a first plan review generally takes a few weeks. If the project changes the structure, the plans need the seal of a California-licensed architect or engineer. Homes in a flood hazard area get an extra review, so it helps to find out early if yours is in one. A county application also expires if it is not issued in time, so answer review comments promptly.

One thing you will not need is a state operating permit. California exempts an elevator in a private single-family home that the public does not use from the state elevator program. Cal/OSHA does not permit or inspect it, so there is nothing to renew each year. You still need the local building permit. Once it is issued and the site is ready, the install itself typically takes 2 to 3 days.
