Home elevators in Brisbane, Australia

A home elevator that fits your Brisbane home and your plans.

Keep every floor of your home, without the stairs standing in your way.

A home elevator gives you back every floor of your Brisbane home. The bedroom upstairs, the deck, the rooms where the family gathers: you reach them all without facing the stairs. If your knees have started to complain, or you are healing from surgery, the trip between floors becomes a short, calm ride.

PVE home elevators are air-driven. They stand on your existing floor and need no pit, hoistway or separate machine room in standard installations. That means less building work in a finished house, and no hole in the ground under the lift for rain to find.

It also suits the way life goes in Brisbane. Storms here can cut the power, and a PVE elevator still brings you down safely when they do. Many people here plan to age in the home they love, and an elevator helps you do that on your own terms. Your next step is simple: a free visit to look at your home.

How it works

The cleanest home elevator on the market.

Because the system needs no pit and no machine room, it fits a finished Brisbane home with little building work. And if a storm knocks out the power, the cabin descends gently to the lowest floor on its own.

  1. 01Air lifts you up

A vacuum pump at the top of the unit changes the air pressure and the cab rises.

  2. 02Gravity brings you down

Air is let back in and the cab descends. No oils, hydraulic fluid or lubricants.

  3. 03Runs on household current

Low power draw, so it works alongside the solar arrays many homes now have.

The most sustainable home elevator available. Anywhere.

Models

Four models. One for every home.

If your staircase is tight and one person rides at a time, the PVE30 is the compact choice. The PVE37 and The Cube give room for two, which suits a couple aging in place in a two- or three-story home. If someone in your family uses a wheelchair, start with the PVE52, and ride one at a dealer to confirm your chair fits.

Why homeowners choose PVE

Safe, simple and made to be seen.

Here is what a PVE home elevator brings to a Brisbane home, from the storm season to the day you decide to stay put for good.

No pit to dig

The elevator rests on your existing floor, with no pit, hoistway or machine room in standard installations. You avoid digging under a finished house, and when heavy rain or flash flooding hits Brisbane, there is no pit below the lift to take on water.

Calm in a blackout

Storms here can cut the power for hours or longer. If that happens during a ride, the cabin descends on its own to the lowest floor at a safe speed and the door unlocks. You or your loved one can simply step out.

Stay in the home you chose

Many older people in Brisbane move near the river or the coast to age in place. An elevator lets you keep living on every floor of that home, so the stairs never decide when it is time to leave.

Easier days for carers

If you help a parent or partner at home, the stairs are often the hardest part of the day. An elevator gives them a safe way up and down on their own, and gives you less lifting and less worry.

Light and open design

The panoramic design gives you 360 degree views as you ride. The aluminum frame and polycarbonate panels keep the elevator feeling light in your room, and it takes up little floor space in a family home.

A manufacturer behind it

PVE has designed and manufactured air-driven home elevators since 2002. Each one is assembled in the USA and factory-tested in Miami, Florida, then installed and serviced by an authorized dealer trained at our Miami facility.

Testimonials

What homeowners say.

Real words from families who added a PVE elevator to the home they love.

We are not age-limited with the elevator. At any age, it's like living on a single floor. We've been here 5 years and it's never needed anything. The elevator has been flawless.

PVE homeowner5 years with a PVE

My house was built in 1925 and it was hard to get something to fit in with the décor of my home, but the PVE fit in perfectly. I am thrilled with the design, engineering, and reliability of the elevator by PVE.

It turns a 2-story into a ranch concept! It's for the ease & access but also for the resale. I think the investment is worth it!

From idea to installation

What happens during installation?

Your installation plan should cover the work before the elevator arrives as well as assembly and testing.

  1. Review the home

Confirm the layout, the people using the elevator and the levels it needs to serve.

  2. Confirm the model and location

Check dimensions, landing access and the requirements for the selected configuration.

  3. Prepare the site

Complete the agreed structural and electrical work and arrange the required permits and inspections.

  4. Install and hand over

Assemble and test the elevator, complete required approvals, and explain operation and ongoing care.

Timing depends on site preparation, the selected model and local requirements.

FAQ

Questions Brisbane buyers ask before ordering

Have another question? Send us your question and a PVE specialist will answer it for your Brisbane home. 813-548-4339
Is my Brisbane home a good fit for an air-driven lift?

In many cases, yes, but a dealer visit confirms it for your house. The elevator stands on your existing floor, so you do not dig a pit or build a shaft. What your home needs is a level floor, enough height between floors and a spot where an opening can pass through each level. Many two- and three-story homes around Brisbane meet those needs with modest work. Request a free consultation and we will look at your floor plan with you.

Will I need a full development application from council?

Usually not. In Queensland, a lift inside your home typically needs only a standard building notice, not a full development application, unless the work changes the outside structure of the house. Queensland's permit system is also typically a little simpler than those in New South Wales and Victoria. You will still need engineering certificates and a final inspection once the work is done. Your dealer can help you prepare the paperwork so nothing holds up your project.

I live in a townhouse. Do I need my body corporate's okay?

Very likely, yes. Strata rules can add an extra approval step for a lift in a townhouse or apartment, on top of the building permit. It is wise to raise the idea with your body corporate before you order, so you know what they will ask for. A PVE elevator helps here, because it needs no pit and no machine room, which means less building work to explain. Your dealer can give you the details they need to review.

What if a storm knocks the power out while Mum is riding?

She will come down safely. If the power fails during a ride, the elevator descends on its own to the lowest floor at a slow, safe speed, and the door unlocks so she can step out. Brisbane storms can leave homes without power for a day or two, so this matters for your family. Once she is downstairs, she can stay on the ground floor until the power returns. The cabin also has an alarm and a telephone.

Can my husband use it with his wheelchair?

Yes, if you choose the PVE52, the one model we market as wheelchair accessible. It has the widest door and the roomiest cabin of our models. Not every wheelchair fits, though, and the elevator is not ADA compliant. The best step is to ride a PVE52 at an authorized dealer with his own chair before you decide. If he walks with some help, a smaller model may also suit your home and your stairs.

How long will the workers be in my house?

The elevator itself typically goes in over 2 to 3 days once your site is ready. Before that, the floor openings and any levelling are done, and your permit is in place. Because the install is short, it is easy to plan around Brisbane's storm season and your own calendar. After the work, the final inspection and certification follow. Your dealer will give you a timeline that fits your home and your household.

Who services it here after it is installed?

Your authorized PVE dealer looks after it. Every PVE dealer is trained at our Miami facility, and they set your service schedule, with an inspection at least every 6 months. The elevator is low maintenance and uses no harmful oils or lubricants, so visits tend to be simple. If anything comes up between visits, you call your dealer, who already knows your home. Ask about service when you request your quote.

What will a lift cost for a house like mine?

It depends on your home, and a free quote gives you the real figure. The main things that move the price are the model, the number of floors it serves and the work your home needs first, such as floor openings or levelling. Permits, certification and any strata approval add their part too. Your dealer looks at all of this during the visit. Request a quote and you will get a price for your home, not a guess.

Brisbane's older population has grown much faster than the city as a whole over the last decade, and faster than in Sydney or Melbourne in recent years. Many of these older residents are choosing to stay where they are. If you plan to age in your own home, an elevator lets you keep using every floor of it, rather than moving to a single-level place you did not choose.

Older people across Greater Brisbane tend to settle along the Brisbane River and the coastline, moving there to age in place. If your home sits in one of these areas, the house you chose for the view or the water may also be the one with the most stairs. A home elevator keeps that home working for you as your needs change.

Brisbane families also do a lot of caring at home. A large number of people here give unpaid help to someone with a disability, a health condition or old age. If you look after a parent or partner, an elevator takes the hardest part of the day, the stairs, off your plate. It means less lifting for you and more freedom for them.

Almost every home lift in Australia needs a building permit and certification under the national lift standards and the National Construction Code. Queensland runs its own permit system, and it is typically a little more straightforward than the ones in New South Wales and Victoria. A lift inside your home usually needs only a standard building notice, not a full development application, unless the work changes the outside structure.

Once the work is done, engineering certificates and a final inspection and certification follow. If you live in a townhouse or apartment under strata, your body corporate may need to approve the lift as well, so ask early. Planning for these steps from the start keeps your project moving.

When a storm cuts the power, a PVE elevator descends gently to the lowest floor and the door unlocks.

Brisbane storms can be fierce. Recent spring storms brought down trees and power lines and left a very large number of homes in the dark. Energex said wind is the biggest cause of outages in storms, and people in the worst-hit areas were told they could wait a day or two for power. If you live alone or care for someone who cannot manage the stairs, that matters. In a power cut during a ride, a PVE elevator descends to the lowest level at safety speed and the door lock opens, so no one is left waiting between floors.

Storms here can also bring heavy rain and flash flooding. Because a PVE elevator stands on your existing floor, there is no pit below it to fill with water. Your floor does need to be level, and your dealer checks this on the first visit. Once your site is ready, the install itself typically takes 2 to 3 days, so it is easy to plan around the weather.
