Why PVE
Built for the Way Minnesota Lives
Minnesota homes reflect a thoughtful mix of tradition and innovation. Stately Victorians and Craftsman bungalows along the Minneapolis Chain of Lakes, classic colonials and Tudor Revivals in Edina’s Country Club District, lakefront estates along Lake Minnetonka’s bays and coves, Summit Avenue mansions and historic brownstones in St. Paul’s Summit Hill, and newer custom builds in communities like Wayzata, Woodbury, and Plymouth. For homeowners renovating a century-old home in Kenwood or building new on an estate lot in Orono, adding a residential elevator is becoming a standard part of the plan.
PVE Home Elevators require no pre-built shaft, no pit, and no machine room. They rest directly on the existing ground floor and can be installed in as little as 2 to 3 days, with minimal disruption to the home.
For homeowners planning around comfort, accessibility, and long-term independence, PVE elevators offer a compact way to move between floors without the heavy construction that traditional elevator systems require.
For those with solar panels or geothermal systems, PVE elevators are compatible with solar panel integration. They use minimal electricity and no hydraulic fluid, making them one of the cleanest home elevator options available.

The Cleanest Home Elevator on the Market
Minnesota homeowners are increasingly investing in energy-efficient upgrades. Geothermal heating, triple-pane windows, spray foam insulation, and solar arrays are standard features in many new builds across the Twin Cities metro. PVE was designed with that same forward-thinking approach. Our air-driven elevators operate without oils, lubricants, or harmful gases. They consume minimal energy and use gravity alone for descent.
For homeowners with solar panels or battery backup systems, PVE elevators are compatible with solar panel integration. Lower utility costs. No hydraulic fluid. No compromise.
The most sustainable home elevator available. Anywhere.

Why Homeowners Choose PVE
- Reliable SafetyEvery PVE elevator is certified and tested before leaving the factory. If power is interrupted, the cabin gently descends to the lowest level and the door opens for a safe exit. PVE systems are installed in homes across the country, including throughout Minnesota.
- Ready for Minnesota WintersIce storms, heavy snow, and subzero temperatures can cause unexpected power outages. PVE elevators bring passengers safely to the ground floor during any power loss, with no manual effort required.
- Complements Any InteriorThe transparent polycarbonate cabin provides a full 360-degree view while moving between floors. Its clean, cylindrical profile pairs well with a wide range of Minnesota home styles, from restored Victorians and warm Craftsman interiors to sleek contemporary designs.
- Low MaintenancePVE elevators run without hydraulic oil, lubricants, or gases. That means dramatically less servicing than conventional systems. Most homeowners only need a seal replacement every four to five years.
- Compact and Self-supportingThe self-supporting structure requires no shaft, pit, or machine room. For Minnesota homeowners renovating older homes where space is limited or preserving original character matters, the compact footprint makes installation practical.
- Inspected Before IT ShipsEach unit is fully pre-assembled and tested at PVE’s headquarters in Miami before shipping. By the time it reaches your Minnesota home, it has already passed a complete round of quality and performance checks.

Testimonials
What homeowners say
My house was built in 1925 and it was hard to get something to fit in with the décor of my home, but the PVE fit in perfectly. I am thrilled with the design, engineering, and reliability of the elevator by PVE.
PVE homeowner
We are not age-limited with the elevator. At any age, it’s like living on a single floor. We’ve been here 5 years and it’s never needed anything. The elevator has been flawless.

From idea to installation
What happens during installation?
Your installation plan should cover the work before the elevator arrives as well as assembly and testing.
- Review the homeConfirm the layout, the people using the elevator and the levels it needs to serve.
- Confirm the model and locationCheck dimensions, landing access and the requirements for the selected configuration.
- Prepare the siteComplete the agreed structural and electrical work and arrange the required permits and inspections.
- Install and hand overAssemble and test the elevator, complete required approvals, and explain operation and ongoing care.
Timing depends on site preparation, the selected model and local requirements.
CAN A HOME ELEVATOR BE ADDED TO AN EXISTING MINNESOTA HOME?
Yes. PVE pneumatic elevators are designed for retrofit applications and do not require a pit, machine room, or pre-built shaft. This makes them well suited for the Twin Cities’ older Craftsman bungalows, Victorians, colonials, and mid-century ramblers, as well as newer multi-story construction across the suburbs.
HOW MUCH SPACE IS NEEDED FOR A HOME ELEVATOR?
Space requirements vary by model. PVE elevators have a compact, self-supporting design that works in many existing homes without major structural changes or a dedicated equipment room.
ARE HOME ELEVATORS USEFUL FOR AGING IN PLACE IN MINNESOTA?
Many Minnesota homeowners install residential elevators to stay independent in multi-story homes as mobility needs change. With a significant share of the state’s population approaching or past retirement age, accessibility upgrades that allow homeowners to stay in place long term are a growing part of renovation planning across the Twin Cities.
DO I NEED A PERMIT TO INSTALL A HOME ELEVATOR IN MINNESOTA?
Yes. Minnesota requires a permit for the installation of residential elevators, administered through the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry (DLI). A licensed elevator contractor must submit plans, specifications, and the permit application before work begins.
WHAT FACTORS AFFECT HOME ELEVATOR PRICING IN MINNESOTA?
Pricing depends on the model selected, number of stops, site conditions, finish selections, permitting, shipping, and installation requirements. Homeowners should request a project-specific quote from PVE or an authorized dealer for accurate pricing.
DO PVE ELEVATORS REQUIRE A SHAFT OR MACHINE ROOM?
No. PVE pneumatic models are fully self-supporting and do not require a shaft, pit, or machine room. This reduces both construction scope and installation time compared to traditional elevator systems.
WHICH PVE MODEL IS WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBLE?
PVE manufactures four residential elevator models. The PVE52 is PVE's wheelchair-accessible model (not ADA compliant; not every wheelchair fits, so ride a PVE52 at your local PVE dealer to confirm).
