A PVE air-driven home elevator with its panoramic cabin, shown in a model home installation.
Keep every floor of your Delray Beach home within easy reach.
An elevator lets you stay in the home you chose, without the stairs deciding your day.
Maybe the bedroom is upstairs and the climb now takes effort. Maybe you are planning ahead, so the house still works for you in ten good years. In Delray Beach, many of the people looking at a home elevator want exactly that: to stay put, on their own terms.
A PVE elevator is a calm, simple way to get there. It is a residential elevator that rides on air. It stands on your existing floor and rises through a neat opening in the ceiling above. In standard installations there is no pit to dig, no shaft to frame and no separate machine room to give up.
That matters in a city full of character homes and coastal houses near sea level. You keep your rooms, your layout and the look of your home. You gain a quiet, open cabin with a view all the way around, and a ride that feels as easy as stepping onto the porch.
Below, you will find what a project looks like in Delray Beach: the homes, the permits, storm season and the timeline. When you are ready, a free consultation is the next step.
The cleanest home elevator on the market.
Delray Beach summers are long and storms can cut the power. PVE's air-driven design uses no oils or lubricants, and if the power fails during a ride, the cabin lowers itself gently to the bottom floor.
- 01Air lifts you up
A vacuum pump at the top of the unit changes the air pressure and the cab rises.
- 02Gravity brings you down
Air is let back in and the cab descends. No oils, hydraulic fluid or lubricants.
- 03Runs on household current
Low power draw, so it works alongside the solar arrays many homes now have.
The most sustainable home elevator available. Anywhere.
- Pneumatic technology
- No shaft, pit or machine room
- Installed in 2 to 3 days
- Panoramic design
- Three sizes and a square
Four models. One for every home.
If you live alone or just want a small, tidy lift in a cottage or bungalow, the PVE30 is the space-saving choice for one rider. Couples often pick the PVE37 or the square Cube for room for two. If someone in your family uses a wheelchair, the PVE52 is the model to start with.

Safe, simple and made to be seen.
A home elevator is a big decision. Here is why PVE suits homes and households in Delray Beach, from historic cottages to newer coastal homes.
No pit near sea level
Standard installations need no pit, hoistway or machine room. In a coastal city that sits close to sea level, that means no hole under your floor to dig or keep dry. The elevator simply rests on your level floor.
A calm plan for outages
Storms here can cut the power for days or longer. If the power fails during a ride, the cabin lowers itself to the lowest floor at a safe speed and the door unlocks. You are not left waiting between floors.
Respect for older homes
Self-supporting means the elevator carries its own weight on its own frame. It does not lean on your walls, so it suits bungalows, cottages and older Mediterranean homes where you want to change as little as possible.
Fast once you are ready
After site prep is done, installation typically takes 2 to 3 days. That means less dust, fewer workers in your home and a shorter wait before you or a parent can ride between floors.
An open, panoramic ride
The cabin offers a full 360 degree view through clear panels. It feels light and open, not boxed in, and it fits the bright, airy style of many Delray Beach homes. A Work of Art. Powered by Air®.
From a Florida manufacturer
PVE has designed and manufactured air-driven home elevators since 2002. Every elevator is assembled in the USA and factory-tested in Miami, so the people behind your elevator are just down the coast from you.

What homeowners say.
Real words from families who added a PVE elevator to the home they love.
We are not age-limited with the elevator. At any age, it's like living on a single floor. We've been here 5 years and it's never needed anything. The elevator has been flawless.
My house was built in 1925 and it was hard to get something to fit in with the décor of my home, but the PVE fit in perfectly. I am thrilled with the design, engineering, and reliability of the elevator by PVE.
It turns a 2-story into a ranch concept! It's for the ease & access but also for the resale. I think the investment is worth it!
What happens during installation?
Your installation plan should cover the work before the elevator arrives as well as assembly and testing.
- Review the home
Confirm the layout, the people using the elevator and the levels it needs to serve.
- Confirm the model and location
Check dimensions, landing access and the requirements for the selected configuration.
- Prepare the site
Complete the agreed structural and electrical work and arrange the required permits and inspections.
- Install and hand over
Assemble and test the elevator, complete required approvals, and explain operation and ongoing care.
Timing depends on site preparation, the selected model and local requirements.

Most PVE home elevator projects fall between $35,000 and $100,000+. In Delray Beach, the price mostly depends on the model, how many floors you connect and the site work your home needs, such as a floor opening, framing in an older house or power at the right spot. Questions Delray Beach buyers ask
Our home is in one of Delray Beach's historic districts. Can we still add an elevator?
In many cases, yes. A PVE elevator goes inside your home and stands on its own frame, so the outside of your house usually stays the same. That helps if you own a historic cottage, bungalow or Mediterranean Revival home and want to keep its character. Your dealer will look at your home, check what the city may ask for, and suggest the best spot.
Do I have to go to City Hall to get the permit?
No, you do not. Delray Beach handles building permits online, from the application to the documents and fees. Only a licensed contractor registered with the city can apply, so your installer takes care of it. The state also approves the elevator itself, and your dealer handles that side too. You pick the model and the spot while the team handles the forms.
If a storm knocks out the power, could my dad get stuck upstairs?
He will not be stuck in the cabin. If the power fails during a ride, the elevator lowers itself slowly to the lowest floor and the door unlocks so he can step out. Outages come with storm season here. While the power is out, the elevator will not carry anyone up, so plan where he will sleep. Ask your dealer about the solar panel package.
How much of our house will get torn up?
Very little, compared with most elevators. There is no pit to dig and no shaft to build, so your rooms stay as they are. The main work is a finished opening in the floor above, a level floor below and the right power supply nearby. Older Delray Beach homes may need some framing around the opening. A site visit shows what your home needs.
We need room for a wheelchair. Which elevator should we choose?
Start with the PVE52, our only model made for wheelchair access. It has the widest door and the roomiest cabin, with space for a rider and a helper. It is not ADA compliant, and not every wheelchair fits, so try one at a PVE authorized dealer with your own chair before you order. Bring the person who will ride it most.
We spend part of the year away. Is that a problem for the elevator?
No, it suits seasonal homes well. The elevator is low maintenance and uses no oils or lubricants that need topping up while you are away. You will still want an inspection at least every 6 months, set up through your authorized dealer. Many owners book one visit before they head north and another when they return, so the elevator is ready when they are.
What will the price depend on for our home?
It depends on the model, the number of floors and the work your home needs first. A single-rider elevator between two floors is the simplest project. A wheelchair model, a third floor or framing in an older home adds to it. Permits and the state approval are part of the plan too. A free quote gives you the number for your home.
How soon could we start using it?
Once the site is ready, the install itself typically takes 2 to 3 days. Before that comes choosing the model, the city permit, the state approval and site prep, like the floor opening and power. After the install, the state's inspection clears the elevator for use. Many owners plan around the peak of storm season to keep things moving. Request a consultation to map out your timeline.
Built for the way Delray Beach lives.
- Who it is for
- Owners planning to age in place, many living on their own
- Typical homes
- Historic cottages, bungalows and Mediterranean Revival homes, plus newer coastal houses
- Permits
- City building permit online, plus a state elevator permit
- Install time
- Typically 2 to 3 days once site prep is complete
Delray Beach is a city where people come to stay. More than a quarter of residents are 65 or older, and many homes have an older adult living alone. If that is you or a parent, an elevator is about freedom: reaching your bedroom, office or laundry without asking for help.
Many homes here carry real history. The city has several local historic districts, and the Marina Historic District is on the National Register. Styles range from Art Deco and Mediterranean Revival to Mission Revival, bungalows and Key West-style cottages. If your home is one of them, you likely want to keep its look.
This is where a self-supporting elevator helps. It stands on its own frame on your level floor, so your walls do not carry it. It goes inside, often in a corner or beside the stairs, and rises through a finished opening in the floor above. Your facade stays the same. With an open landing, a balcony installation can avoid cutting the upper floor at all.
No pit also matters near the coast. Delray Beach sits close to sea level, and strong storms can bring coastal flooding. A PVE elevator needs no pit, so there is no hole under your house to dig, waterproof or worry about after heavy rain.
If the power goes out, the cabin glides down to the lowest floor on its own and the door opens.
Storm season runs from early summer into late fall, busiest from mid-August through September. Even a tropical storm can bring down power lines, and a strong hurricane can leave homes without power for a long time. If the power fails during a ride, the cabin lowers itself slowly to the bottom floor and the door unlocks, so no one waits between floors. Ask your dealer about the solar panel package too.
Permits in Delray Beach are handled online. Applications, documents and fees go through the city's eServices portal, and only a contractor with a current license on file with the city can apply. Your installer submits the plans, and the city's Building Division helps with questions on weekdays.
Expect two approvals. The city permit covers the building work, such as the floor opening and any framing. The state of Florida reviews the elevator itself and issues its own permit and a certificate to operate. Your dealer coordinates both.
Most of the wait is paperwork and site prep, not the install. Once the opening is cut, the floor is level and the power is ready, the elevator typically goes in within 2 to 3 days. Many owners plan around the peak of storm season. A free consultation shows what your home needs.
