Keep every floor of your Maryland home within easy reach
Stay in the Maryland home you love, with every floor one easy ride away.
You know your home better than anyone. You know which step creaks, how far the bedroom is from the kitchen, and how many trips the laundry takes. When those stairs start to feel longer, a home elevator lets you keep using every room instead of moving your life onto one floor.
PVE designs and manufactures air-driven home elevators with patented pneumatic technology. They are self-supporting, which simply means the elevator stands on your own level floor and holds itself up. In standard installations there is no pit, no hoistway and no separate machine room.
For a Maryland house with two or three floors, and perhaps a basement, that keeps the project modest. You give up a small corner, not a whole room. Whether you have lived in your house for decades or you are planning a new build, the next step is the same: tell us about your home, and we will help you see where an elevator could go.
The cleanest home elevator on the market.
The system is clean and simple, with no oils or lubricants to manage. If the power fails during a ride, the cabin comes down gently to the lowest floor and the door unlocks, and a solar panel package is available if you want it.
- 01Air lifts you up
A vacuum pump at the top of the unit changes the air pressure and the cab rises.
- 02Gravity brings you down
Air is let back in and the cab descends. No oils, hydraulic fluid or lubricants.
- 03Runs on household current
Low power draw, so it works alongside the solar arrays many homes now have.
The most sustainable home elevator available. Anywhere.
- Pneumatic technology
- No shaft, pit or machine room
- Installed in 2 to 3 days
- Panoramic design
- Three sizes and a square
Four models. One for every home.
If your free corner is tight and one person rides at a time, the compact PVE30 is a good place to start. The PVE37 and The Cube give room for two, and The Cube's square shape suits homes of two or three floors. If someone in your family uses a wheelchair, the PVE52 is the model to look at first.

Serving homeowners across Maryland.
We help homeowners in cities, suburbs and small towns across Maryland plan a home elevator for the house they live in or the one they are building. An authorized PVE dealer, trained at our Miami facility, visits your home, measures the space and talks through the right model with you. The same dealer typically guides the permit, handles the install and looks after the service. Request a free consultation to start with a visit to your home.
Safe, simple and made to be seen.
A home elevator is a big decision for your family. Here is what a PVE elevator brings to a Maryland home, in plain terms, so you can weigh it against your own needs.
Less building work
The elevator is self-supporting, so it stands on your existing level floor. Standard installations need no pit, no hoistway and no separate machine room. For an older house or one you love as it is, that means fewer walls touched and fewer rooms changed.
A short install
Once the openings and the circuit are ready, the install typically takes 2 to 3 days. You are not living through months of work. Your dealer plans the steps with you, so you know what happens and when.
Calm in a power cut
If the power goes out during a ride, the cabin descends to the lowest floor at a safe speed and the door unlocks. Whoever is riding can step out on their own, without waiting for help to arrive.
A design you can show off
The panoramic design gives a full view out of the cabin and lets light through. It looks like part of a modern home, not like medical equipment. You choose from several frame colors to suit your rooms.
Low maintenance
There are no harmful oils, gases or lubricants to deal with. Your authorized dealer sets the service schedule, with an inspection at least every 6 months, so the elevator keeps running smoothly over the years.
A manufacturer behind it
PVE has designed and manufactured air-driven elevators since 2002. Each one is assembled in the USA and factory-tested in Miami, Florida, and installed by authorized dealers trained at the PVE Miami facility.

What homeowners say.
Real words from families who added a PVE elevator to the home they love.
We are not age-limited with the elevator. At any age, it's like living on a single floor. We've been here 5 years and it's never needed anything. The elevator has been flawless.
My house was built in 1925 and it was hard to get something to fit in with the décor of my home, but the PVE fit in perfectly. I am thrilled with the design, engineering, and reliability of the elevator by PVE.
It turns a 2-story into a ranch concept! It's for the ease & access but also for the resale. I think the investment is worth it!
What happens during installation?
Your installation plan should cover the work before the elevator arrives as well as assembly and testing.
- Review the home
Confirm the layout, the people using the elevator and the levels it needs to serve.
- Confirm the model and location
Check dimensions, landing access and the requirements for the selected configuration.
- Prepare the site
Complete the agreed structural and electrical work and arrange the required permits and inspections.
- Install and hand over
Assemble and test the elevator, complete required approvals, and explain operation and ongoing care.
Timing depends on site preparation, the selected model and local requirements.

What a project costs in Maryland depends on your home as much as on the elevator: the model, how many floors you want to reach, and the site work your house needs, such as finishing floor openings, adding a dedicated circuit and local permit fees. Questions Maryland buyers ask before they order
How do I know if there is a good spot in my house for it?
The surest way is a home visit from your authorized dealer. They look for a place where the same space is free on every floor, with a level floor beneath it. In many Maryland homes that turns out to be a corner near the stairs, a hallway end or a stacked closet. Site suitability varies from house to house, so the visit confirms it before you commit. Request a free consultation to set one up.
Do I need a permit in Maryland to add an elevator to my house?
In most cases, yes, a home elevator needs a permit from your local building office, and an inspection often follows. The exact rules and timing depend on where you live in Maryland. You do not have to work it out alone. Your authorized dealer knows the local process and typically helps with the paperwork. Bring up permits at your home visit so the timing is part of your plan from the start.
We have a finished basement and two floors above it. Can it reach all three?
Yes, it can. Three stops is within the range of every PVE model, including The Cube, which is designed for homes of two or three floors. A basement works well as the lowest stop when it is finished, heated and has a level floor. Many families like reaching the laundry or a family room downstairs without the stairs. Your dealer checks your floors at the visit and confirms which models suit your home.
Is it safe for my dad to ride alone if the power goes out?
Yes, the elevator is designed for that moment. If the power fails while it is moving, the cabin comes down to the lowest floor at a safe speed and the door unlocks, so he can step out by himself. The cabin also has an alarm and a telephone. If he will ride alone often, ask your dealer about options like a cabin seat or handrail to make each ride more comfortable.
We may need wheelchair access later. Should we plan for that now?
If a wheelchair is likely in the next few years, it is wise to plan for the PVE52 now. It is the only PVE model built for wheelchair access, though it is not ADA compliant and not every wheelchair fits. Choosing it from the start saves you from a second project later. Before you decide, ride a PVE52 at an authorized dealer with the chair you use, so you know it works for you.
What will the next few weeks look like once we say yes?
After you order, the work happens in a few clear steps. Your dealer confirms the plan and the permit, if your area needs one. A contractor then prepares the floor openings and an electrician adds the circuit. Once the site is ready, the install typically takes 2 to 3 days. You can usually stay in your home the whole time, with only the rooms near the elevator affected.
Will it make our house feel like a hospital?
No, most owners find it does the opposite. The panoramic design lets light pass through the cabin, and the frame comes in several colors, so it looks like part of a modern home. It is quiet in daily use and takes up only a small corner. For many Maryland families, it becomes a feature guests ask about. Explore PVE elevator models to see how each one looks in a room.
What upkeep does it need each year?
It needs very little, but it does need regular care. The elevator is low maintenance and uses no harmful oils or lubricants. Your authorized dealer sets your service schedule, with an inspection at least every 6 months, and handles any repair. That way a trained technician who knows your elevator looks after it. Ask your dealer about the service plan when you request your quote, so you know what to expect.
Built for the way Maryland lives.
- Homes we plan for
- Two- and three-story houses, basements and new builds
- What your home needs
- A level floor, a dedicated circuit and a heated living space
- Permits
- Through your local building office, with your dealer's help
- Install time
- Typically 2 to 3 days once site prep is complete
For many buyers, the project starts in a house that is already standing. That is good news, because a PVE elevator is planned around the home you have. Your dealer looks for a spot where the floors line up from top to bottom. It might be a corner of the living room, the end of a hall, the space beside the stairs, or a spot next to a large window.
From there, the elevator rises through a neat opening in each floor, or it sits beside a balcony or landing on the upper level. Because the cabin has a panoramic design, it does not need to hide. Many owners put it in plain sight, where light passes through it. If you would rather keep it out of the way, a stacked closet or a quiet corner can work too. What matters most is that the same spot is free on every floor you want to reach.
No pit to dig. No machine room to build. Just a level floor and a clean opening.
If your home has a basement, it can often be your lowest stop, as long as the floor is level and the space is finished and heated. The elevator is not used below 65°F, so it belongs inside the living space of your home. An unheated garage or porch is not the right place for it. A basement you use every day, with a laundry room or a family room, often makes a sensible bottom floor.
A home elevator in a private house usually needs a permit from your local building office, and an inspection often follows. The rules and the timing differ from place to place. Your authorized dealer knows the local process and typically handles the paperwork with you, so you are not left to sort it out alone. Ask about it during your home visit, and leave room for it in your plan.
Here is how a project usually runs. First comes a home visit to measure, check the floor and talk about who will ride. Next, you get a quote and choose your model, color and options. Then comes the site prep, when a contractor cuts and finishes the openings and an electrician adds a dedicated circuit. Once the site is ready, the install itself typically takes 2 to 3 days.
You can usually keep living at home while the work goes on. Opening the floors creates some dust in the rooms involved, and the crew works to keep it contained. Since there is no pit or shaft to build, the loud part of the job is short. Most of your house carries on as normal.
Power cuts can happen in any home, at any time of year. If the power fails while the elevator is moving, the cabin descends to the lowest level at a safe speed and the door lock opens, so the rider can step out. Your dealer may also suggest a voltage stabilizer to protect the system from changes in your home's supply.
Planning a new build or a large renovation? Tell your architect or builder early. It is easier to line up the floors, the wiring and the space when the elevator is in the plan from day one. If you are buying for a parent, bring them to the visit. The right model depends on who rides and how they move, and they should have a say.
