Built for the Way
California Lives

California homes come in every shape and story. Hillside properties with tight footprints. Multi-story coastal homes where every square foot counts. Multi-generational households that need a smarter way to move between floors.

PVE Home Elevators require no pre-construction shaft, no pit, and no machine room. They rest directly on the existing ground floor and are installed in as little as 2 to 3 days, with minimal disruption to the home.

For homeowners in seismic zones, the optional Earthquake Brackets anchor the elevator securely to the ground floor — an upgrade especially relevant across California.

And for those exploring solar or off-grid living, PVE elevators are compatible with solar panel integration, making them the most eco-aligned home elevator available.

REQUEST INFORMATION

Common Questions
About Home Elevators

in California

Do I need a permit to install a home elevator in
California?

Yes. In California, residential elevator installations require a building permit from your local municipality. PVE’s authorized local dealers are familiar with California’s permitting process and coordinate this on your behalf as part of the installation. Requirements vary by county and city, so your dealer will confirm the specifics for your area.

PVE Home Elevators are certified residential elevators that meet safety standards through annual inspections by Liftinstituut, one of the world’s leading elevator certification organizations. They are designed as residential elevators and are not ADA compliant. Your local dealer will confirm code compliance requirements specific to your city or county before installation begins.
Most PVE installations are completed in 2 to 3 days. Because our elevators are self-supporting and require no pre-construction shaft, pit, or machine room, the disruption to your home is minimal. The elevator rests directly on your existing ground floor.
Yes. PVE Home Elevators are compatible with solar panel integration. For homeowners with an existing solar system, the elevator can run entirely off renewable energy, making it one of the most sustainable home elevator options available in California.
PVE offers optional Earthquake Brackets as an upgrade for all models. These brackets anchor the elevator securely to the ground floor of the residence and are especially recommended for installations in California’s seismic zones. In the event of a power failure for any reason, the cabin automatically descends to the lowest level and the door opens so passengers can exit safely.
In the event of a power failure, the elevator cabin automatically descends to the lowest floor and the mechanical door lock opens, allowing passengers to exit safely. An optional Battery Back-Up Package is also available, keeping the elevator fully operable even when the power inside your home goes out.
PVE offers three round models ranging from 30 to 52 inches in exterior diameter, plus The Cube at 36 x 36 inches. All models are self-supporting and require only a small floor penetration at each level. No dedicated elevator room, shaft construction, or pit is needed, making them ideal for California homes where space is at a premium.

Real estate experts across the U.S. indicate that a residential elevator can increase a home’s resale value by 10% or more. In California’s high-value housing market, that return is amplified. Beyond resale value, a home elevator supports aging in place, increases daily comfort, and expands access to every floor of the home for all members of the household.
