PVE 52 – Wheelchair Accessible Residential Elevator
Home Elevators by PVE are the world’s only air-driven, self-supporting, eco-friendly plug and play home elevators. Designed for residential, marine and stage applications, PVE Elevators can be placed anywhere in your home in as little as one to three days and are designed to take up less space and consume less energy than traditional residential elevators.
With the rise in popularity of the first Vacuum Elevator, the PVE37, Pneumatic Vacuum Elevators, LLC felt it was appropriate to modify and upgrade the technology to accommodate wheelchair accessibility. As a result, Pneumatic Vacuum Elevators engineered the PVE52, the world’s largest air-driven home elevator and introduced it to the world in 2008.
With an external cylinder diameter of 52 11/16 inches (1,316mm), the PVE52 can accommodate one to three passengers, has a 525 lb lift capacity and can travel up to five stories (50 feet total rise). The PVE52 rests on the existing ground floor, requiring no shaft, pit or machine room to operate. A self-supporting elevator, the PVE52 travels 20 feet/min, uses a 220 VAC, 35 AMP single-phase power supply and has in-line and 180° door opening capabilities allowing the elevator to accommodate almost any installation.
This wheelchair-accessible residential elevator maintains all of the safety features and innovative technology of the Vacuum Elevator, maintaining an ASME A17.7 Certification and an emergency mechanical brake system. With its 32-inch-wide door frame, rolling the wheelchair through the entrance opening is easy. Inside, the unit measures a roomy 43 ½ inches in diameter, which provides enough space for a person in a wheelchair with an attendant. The cabin is equipped with an LED light as well as a cabin fan that circulates the ambient air throughout the elevator cabin.
All PVE Elevators come equipped with an in-cabin phone, while cabin key locks and earthquake bracket upgrades are available upon request. With six different colored finishes to choose from (Standard Dark Gray, Light Gray, White, Black, Taupe, Anodized Silver), a one-year limited manufacturer’s warranty and an aluminum and polycarbonate cylinder structure, the PVE52 provides infinite design possibilities for any home. With through-floor and balcony mounted landings available, the PVE52 is ideal for any retro-fit or new construction project. From a design standpoint, the PVE52 provides a 360° visibility for all passengers making it accessible for people who are claustrophobic or fearful of tight spaces.
